From my stand point having a spine that evenly distributes pull without being too soft or too hard, is essential in having an edge over the fleet when using circle hooks like we must now... There's enough backbone built in to take the steam out of even the most stubborn fish... Compared to others she truly is art. The battles are awesome too. I've noticed the whole rod is working for me not just the last half of the rod like with the other brands I've used. The blanks are loaded with power for great hook sets too. I have to mention how light they are. Being I troll for hours on end the heavier poles made my hands sore ,but not with a lightweight Grandt. I am fishing the American Bass Anglers "American Fishing Tour" District #68 with good results because of the All American Pro Series by Grandt Industries. They might be the entry level of Grandt Industries but they are the top of the line for any other company. Just shows the quality of rods made by Grandt Industries. My first time using a Grandt Rod was tough. I kept missing fish like crazy and not knowing why. I picked up a different (name brand) rod fishing the same area and could not buy a bite. Puzzled I picked back up my All American Pro Series Grandt Rod and got another bite on my first cast. This time I waited a second longer to set the hook and finally hooked into a nice bass. I found out the problem, I have never fished a rod that was so sensitive and it took a little getting used to. Is this a bad problem? My first rod was an XLH70 6' - 6" Ultra light that I used for spring bass fishing. I was shocked at the strength of this rod when I caught a 9 lb. walleye with this rod, and other Ultra Light rod would have snapped like a twig, but not a Grandt rod. Need the heft and strength to wrestle the big ones, you have it in the same rod. I fish large channel cats, northern pike and lake trout with the same XLH-70 rod that I use on the ocean in Costa Rica for 100 lb plus tarpon. The sensitivity of this rod lets me feel the slightest tap on the hook that otherwise would have been missed. This results in many more hook sets and more fish to the boat.
